The Mezrab | House of Creation aims to build a sustainable bridge between community-based storytelling and the professional performance art scene. We do this by listening carefully to the specific needs of each storyteller and by designing unique trajectories for each professional development.
From sparking the desire to turn their stories into an evening show, throughout the artistic process, up until organizing the premiere and a nation-wide tour, we stand by our artists.

After 20 years of investing in the art form of storytelling we now want to make it more visible and sustainable.
We work from the vision that storytelling has the power to overcome prejudice and indifference and helps us to connect to each other.
“Those with traditions of storytelling believe that stories touch us and affect us on a deeper level. Hence, the message of a story might not become clear to us until weeks, months or even years later. Stories can stir something deep within us and plant a seed for change that will sprout when the time is right.”

We will reach this vision by staying true to our mission: to anchor storytelling as a permanent and high-quality artistic genre in the Netherlands, that will be accessible for audiences everywhere.

Artistic expertise A pool of directors, choreographers, composers, videographers, circus artists, musicians and other creatives that can be connected to a project based on the needs of the storyteller.
Freelance Producers A pool of producers with experience in storytelling shows, from which one producer will stand by each storyteller throughout the whole process.
